The PhilStar Job Fair Hits Robinsons Galleria

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Star Career Guide Job Fair has once again paved the way to more job opportunities and manpower acquisition on its third leg for 2016.  More than 1500 job seekers flocked to the Robinson’s Galleria Activity Center last June 28 and 29 to hunt for jobs offered by different companies from various industries.

“We were able to process quite a good number of quality applicants this time” – shared by a regular participant of the Career Guide Job Fair. With the help of WeRK.PH, a prominent name in online recruitment marketing, the target number of job seekers for this job fair was exceeded by more than 50 percent. Almost 500 applicants pre-registered at the PhilStar Job portal and more than a thousand job seekers “walked-in” to the event.

According to Trading Economics’ global macro models and analysts expectations, unemployment rate in the Philippines is expected to be 5.6 percent by the end of this quarter. The Philippine Star, through The Classifinder Manager Ms. Arlyn Servañe, conceived the event as an avenue for applicants and companies to engage and address the country’s unemployment.

Job seekers from as far as Pangasinan and other nearby provinces were willing to travel to the job fair, many looking for better opportunities in the metro. Employers were aggressive in pooling talents required by their respective industries ranging from real estate, education, BPO, construction, retail services, health, and restaurant services among others.  As with previous job fairs, most companies conducted initial screening and interview on-site. Some companies were even able to immediately hire exceptional candidates on the spot as they surpassed all their given requirements.

Games were conducted during the event, gift certificates and The Legend of Tarzan movie tickets were given away to lucky applicants who joined. A free make-up session was offered by a leading Beauty Consultancy Agency who also provided interview tips and grooming and posture coaching.

The opportunities presented during this job fair are remarkably diverse from entry level positions to management jobs. Most companies were satisfied with the outcome of the PhilSTAR Job Fair and many are looking forward to participating at the next event, happening on July 19 and 20 at the Trinoma Activity Center in Quezon City.
